The New Roxy

The New Roxy is a former cinema located in the historic New World District of Clarksdale Mississippi.  After deteriorating over a 30-year vacancy, the New Roxy is being slowly recreated as a vibrant art, music and theater venue.

By nature’s design (the roof had fallen in during the abandoned years), the New Roxy now boasts a stunning view of the stars in the open-air main stage area.

The sloping floors of the theater days give a great view of the stage, and the distressed brick walls are rich in texture and history.  Muddy Waters is rumored to have played the grand opening of the New Roxy movie house around 1950.  If walls could talk…

While the main stage area is open to the elements (and the night sky), there is a front bar with a small, intimate, stage (fully covered and weather-proof!).
